The Railway Companies of Pembrokeshire
In the beginning, the railway lines around Pembrokeshire where built by small companies, generally owned by a local businessman.
These were later merged into the South Wales Railway, who owned the majority of the railway lines in South West Wales.
In 1863 the South Wales Railway was absorbed by the Great Western Railway, although very little changed regarding the running of the lines and the locamotives used
The biggest change came in 1948 when the British Rail network was nationalised and all the rail operators such as G.W.R. were dispanded and replacede with British Rail.
