The quality and quantity of agricultural produce in Pembrokeshire has improved a great deal due to advances in technology.

The first tools to be used in farming were basic hand tools such as the axes and spears which were used thousands of years ago.

Later, the use of animals for farming led to the development of various drawn implements. These greatly speeded up many of the old processes, such as ploughing, harrowing and rolling.

Probably the greatest advance in agricultural machinery came in the early 20th Century when the tractor was introduced onto farms. This allowed larger and more powerful machines to be used.
