The Park
The 60 acres of park and woodland surrounding the house have been utilised as a country park since the 1970's, providing opportunities for informal countryside recreation with a range of associated facilities.
The central 22 acre grass enclosure is available for staging events ranging from vintage car rallies to scout camps. Picnic sites, nature trails and children's play equipment are located adjoining the visitor centre and the sites car parks.
A small woodland centre is located to the west of the visitor centre and it contains displays relating to past and present uses of timber and is also used as a base for related events and activities.
Since 1989 Scolton has operated as a climatological recording station, feeding information to the Meteorological Office to assist in recording and predicting weather conditions for the area.

The park is widely used by both local people and visitors and is open daily throughout the year, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. A small parking charge is operated via a 'pay and display' machine and regular users can purchase a season ticket.
